Steve G. Harvey

"Remember, it's not all about how you do when the markets are good; it's also about how much you don't lose when the markets are bad."

Steve Harvey began his career in 1984 at EF Hutton in Washington, DC. While at EF Hutton, he received extensive training in the stock and bond markets, alternative investments, and retirement plans. In 1990, Steve moved to Dean Witter, which later merged with Morgan Stanley. While at Morgan Stanley, he became branch manager of the Franklin Square office from August 1994 to April 2000. Steve continued advising his clients and managing their assets at Morgan Stanley until May 2005.

Steve left Morgan Stanley in May of 2005 to start The Harvey Group, in Old Town Alexandria, so he could provide truly independent and objective investment and financial advice.

John Bernards

"We always consider ourselves students of the industry. From tax law changes to the inception of more sophisticated investment vehicles, it is quite a bit to keep up with. We stress continuing education within the organization and constantly strive to come up with new ways in which we can help our clients achieve their financial goals."

John Bernards is a native Californian, who relocated to Washington, DC, in 1999. He began his career in finance with Morgan Stanley in 2001, after a short stint with the US House Armed Services Committee on Capitol Hill.

John is a founding partner of The Harvey Group, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, and an Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. He received his degree from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California, in economics, with a concentration in marketing. He also was a member of the lacrosse team.

John lives in Washington, DC, with his wife, Stacey, and his children, Coco, Jack, and Emme. He is an active member of the Parent Teacher Association at his children's school and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.

Faye Halloran

"Good relationships in life and in business are founded on communication. I pledge to my clients to be responsive and respectful and through the years we will pursue the goals we set together."

Faye Halloran
has been a registered financial advisor for over 25 years. Born in Connecticut, she moved to Washington, DC, in 1976, where she began her career as a sales assistant with Merrill Lynch. It wasn't long before Faye became an advisor, creating a practice built on strong client relationships. After 11 years with Merrill Lynch, Faye went to work with Morgan Stanley. It was at this stage of her career that Faye met Steve and John. Most recently, Faye was a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

In 2009, Faye decided that it was time to transition her practice to an independent, more client-centric environment where she could continue her focus on client relationships, without the pressures pressed on her by the larger firms. Commonwealth Financial Network and The Harvey Group presented this environment.

Offering general financial guidance and investment recommendations, Faye is dedicated to accomplish the goals of her clients.

Faye lives in Washington, DC, and enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her 75-pound boxer, Ella, or in the kitchen, whipping up gourmet meals for her three grandsons.

Alison Fife

"Ask us anything. If we don't know the answer, we will refer to one of our many resources, find out the answer, and get back to you as soon as we can."

Alison Fife grew up and still lives in Alexandria, Virginia. She worked with Shearson Lehman Brothers as a registered sales assistant for seven years, then as a marketing associate for Lazard Freres Asset Management. Alison has been the client service manager of The Harvey Group since its inception and is an Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network. She received her degree in marketing and education from James Madison University.

In her spare time, Alison enjoys attending her three daughters' many sporting events and horseback riding.
