When it comes to food, we’re spoiled here in Alexandria, Virginia. There are almost too many tasty restaurants to choose from.
That said, after trying out countless places, I’ve narrowed them down to four favorites. Each offers excellent service, unique vibes, and, most importantly, finger-lickin’-good food.
So, if you live in or are traveling to Alexandria, here are four restaurants you absolutely cannot miss.
Blackwall Hitch is an amazing restaurant located right on the coast (directly next to Founder’s Park). My favorite part of Blackwall is their focus on the local culture: they source their ingredients and drinks locally, offer a seasonal menu of local flavors, and often have local artists play live music.
And Blackwall’s attention to detail always impresses me. Every time I eat here, I have high expectations, and every time, those expectations are blown out of the water. Try any of their seafood dishes—you won’t regret it!
Whether you’re in the mood for brunch, lunch, or dinner, I highly recommend giving Blackwall Hitch a try.
If it’s Italian food you’re after, there’s no better option than Landini Brothers. With traditional Italian recipes that come straight from Italy’s Tuscany region, it’s as authentic as you can get.
The restaurant boasts a beautiful dining room, but if the weather is nice, I recommend heading to their outdoor patio which overlooks King Street in Old Town. The vibe at Landini Brothers is casual and elegant, making it the perfect spot for a date night.
Urbano 116, also located on King Street, is about the closest you’ll get to “real” Mexican food (without actually going to Mexico, of course!). That’s because not only did Urbano’s owners actually travel down to Mexico to recruit award-winning Mexican chef Alam Mendez, but they also ship ingredients in straight from the Oaxaca region of Mexico to ensure an authentic flavor.
If you’re looking for a night out in Old Town, Urbano 116 will not disappoint.
Vermillion, the last of my four favorite restaurants, is also located in Old Town. They offer classic American food (my favorite is the Prime New York Strip Steak) made from local farm-raised products.
Vermillion is not only one of my favorite restaurants in Alexandria, but it’s even one of the top restaurants in all of Virginia. In fact, they’ve won several awards over the years, including being named in Washingtonian as one of the 100 best restaurants in 2013. Their food has only increased in flavor in these last six years.
In addition to their top-notch food, they also offer a comfortable bar and lounge area to enjoy drinks with family, friends, and coworkers.
Enjoying The Best Life Has To Offer
One of my favorite things to do is take time to get out and try the best food Alexandria has to offer. However, as you can imagine, some of these restaurants aren’t exactly cheap.
In order to enjoy these experiences guilt-free, it’s important to get your finances in order. The best way to do that is to work with a financial advisor who can help you create a personalized plan to achieve your financial goals (and yes, those goals can include enjoying more high-quality food!).
